PTE Academic Writing Section – An Overview
Briefly, the pte writing section has two parts, such as summarizing text and essay writing. Let’s know about them in detail,
- Written test summarization– The students would make summary of a particular paragraph given on a particular topic. The number of items in this would get limited maximum to 3.The text length would go up to 300 words. The students could get partial credit as score. The allotted time for this is 10 minutes.
- Essay writing– The students would get the task to write an essay of 200-300 words. While they could score partial credit for this, the time allotment is 10 minutes. The length of the prompt could go up to 2-3 sentences.

The students would finish the summary in a SINGLE sentence. They would get the opportunity to complete the sentence only with a single full stop. But they have the privilege to make use of semi-colons, and colons for more than once.

Time allotment for this is 20 minutes. Students would get marks on their capability to write with perfect grammar, lucidity, pattern of writing, and vocabulary.
Word count is available at the bottom of the text box. The length of the essay needs to exceed 200 words. Exceeding 300 words strength would attract minus marking. Neutrality in the tone of writing is the essence of writing. Things need not get repeated in a sentence unnecessarily.
